But locally, mostly due to having some of the older product offerings on the road at the moment, Audi sales were down 5.2% last year.
But this is something that Audi South Africa will be working hard on to reverse as they continue to introduce new and dynamic products that can really take the fight to the competition.
And the all-new third-generation Audi TT Coupe is just such an offering.
Okay, right up front before I get into the detail of the TT, we will only be getting the coupe version in South Africa and not the roadster, as sales for roadsters have fallen through the floor and it doesn’t make business sense for Audi South Africa to offer the model.
We will be offered front wheel drive and Quattro models, but we are also only getting the well-known 2.0T FSI powered models fitted with S tronic gearboxes.
The 210kW/380Nm TTS should be here in July this year and the seriously potent TT RS should get here in about 18 months time. But back to the TT Coupe for now.
I was no fan of the first-generation TT, and the second-generation car grew on me slightly, but I will simply say the new TT is one good-looking coupe even though this third-generation TT has taken many of its design cues from the first-generation car.
