The Kyalami Grand Prix circuit will host a full-scale motorsport extravaganza this weekend, with both of the year’s National and Regional Extreme Festivals Presented by Coca-Cola competitors savouring the opportunity to race on the hallowed tarmac.
The double header programme will also see the launch of a brand new addition to South African circuit racing.
National Extreme Festival
Touring Cars
Top billing will belong to the South African Touring Car contingent, with some significant driver changes.
Points leader Anthony Pretorius will not be present, having secured an international sports car drive.
His BMW 128ti will be in the hands of the very competent all-rounder Keegan Campos.

The man to beat should be Michael van Rooyen (SVR Steelworks Toyota Corolla), with support from SVR teammates Siyabonga Mankonkwana, Saood Variawa and Nathi Msimanga.
Another man to watch should be reigning Investchem Formula 1600 champion Jagger Robertson (Sparco Volkswagen Golf GTI).
SupaCup
Front runners in the SupaCup should include Tate Bishop (ANGRI Volkswagen SupaPolo), Charl Visser (Charl Engineering Volkswagen SupaPolo), Jonathan Mogotsi (Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo), Niko Zafiris (Lee Thompson Volkswagen SupaPolo) and Muhammad Wally (Volkswagen SupaPolo).
Polo Cup
The Astron Energy Polo Cup races should see podium chasers like Mohammed Karodia (Fast 5 Motorsport), Ethan Coetzee (Ethan Coetzee Racing), Hannes Scheepers (Dainfern Dental Studio) and Tyler Robinson (AF Fans),
In the masters category, drivers like Wayne Masters (Performance Masters), John Kruger (Habot Lubricants) and Derick Smalberger (Sabertek) should be at the head of the field.
MSA4
Having its inaugural outing as a single-seater replacement series for the Investchem Formula 1600 category will be the Investchem MSA4 Championship.
Powered by Volkswagen engines, the new discipline will see drivers like KC Ensor-Smith (African Heating), Karabo Malemela (KMFT Morita), Ewan Holtzhausen (Total Plastics), Alex Vos (DV Building Supplies) newcomers Kian Spies (Corsa Dei Gemelli), Adriaan Nel (Central Cycles), and Hannah Lee Daniel (76 Legacy Motorsport) take to the grid.
Extreme Supercars
Former SupaCup champion Brad Liebenberg (Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo) will head up the Extreme SuperCars Driven By Dunlop entry.
He will face off against drivers like Charl Arangies (Stradale Porsche 911 GT3 R), Jonathan du Toit (TAR Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo), Ant Blunden (SAJCO Audi R8), Kris Budnik (Bucketlist Composites Dodge Viper), and Marius Jackson (MJR Audi R8 LMS GT3).
Regional Extreme Festival
BMW M Performance
Backing the National events will be a full programme of Regional competition, headed up by the BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series.
Fighting for overall victories should be Leon Loubser (Monaco Motors 335i), Bob Neill (Delmon Mining M3 Turbo), Renier Smith (Fast Development M3 Turbo), Paulo Loureiro (Combined 335i), Ryan Naicker (Fast Development M3), Sav Gualtieri (SavSpeed Auto M3 Turbo) and Andreas Meier (CEC 318i STC).
The Class D, E and F group will compete separately from Classes A, B and C.
Bernard de Gouveia (De Gouveia Accountants M3) should head up Class D, with Varish Ganpath (Grobler Motorsport 335i) and Michael Grobler (Pest Control 328i Turbo) as primary challengers.
111 GT Sports and Saloons
The Ferro Energia 111 GT Sports and Saloon Car category is also set to produce a host of enthralling battles throughout the field.
George Economides (Wealth Avenue Volkswagen CitiGolf Turbo), Mark Du Toit (TAR BMW 118i), Wayne Robb (Ford Focus ST), defending champion Wouter Roos (Origen Oil Volkswagen Golf GTI), Wayne Lebotschy (Shield Volkswagen Golf), Lenard Archer (ACD Welkom Hyundai Getz) and Melanie Spurr (Origen Oil Volkswagen Polo) should be drivers to watch.
Formula Vee
The DOE Formula Vee Partnered with CIM Lubricants races could produce some of the day’s closest racing, with front runners likely to include MD Bester (Comfort Makhanya Rhema), defending champion Lendl Jansen (Bull Security Rhema) and Gert van der Berg (DOE Quality Parts Rhema).
V8 Supercars
The Dunlop V8 Supercars should see Warren Lombard (Pepboys Automotive Ford Mustang) as the man to beat, challenged by people like Thomas Reib (Café 9 Automotive Chevrolet Lumina) and Sam Dahl (Arcprotech Ford Falcon).
Volkswagen Challenge
The ATE Volkswagen Challenge races should see drivers like Jayden Goosen (Ferro Energia), Wayne Masters (Performance Masters), Francois Aldrich (Vaporworx) and Chris Davison (GSI Generator Services), at the front end.
