Refreshed Fiat 500X priced

In a move similar to its Fiat 500 sibling just over three weeks ago, Stellantis South Africa has updated and streamlined the 500X range three years after its European refresh.

Still in its first generation having debuting as long ago as 2014, the 500X, which shares its Small Wide 4×4 platform with the Jeep Renegade, Compass and Fiat Toro, now spans a line-up of four models, all powered by the stalwart 1.4-litre turbocharged MultiAir petrol engine that produces 103kW/230Nm.

With the exception of the 500 only Dolcevita, the trim level denominators are identical with the entry-level Cult coming as standard with unique front and rear bumpers, model specific 16-inch alloy wheels, a five-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system and a 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster display.

Also standard are gloss black mirror caps and door handles, LED taillights, a four-speaker sound system, a blue monogram pattern on the cloth seats, cruise control, Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Keep Assist.

Moving one up, the Connect rides on the same alloy wheels, albeit in a different design, with the addition of two speakers, a 3.5-inch colour instrument cluster display, rear parking sensors plus rain sense wipers.

The recipient of so-called techno leather seats, a material carried over the multi-function steering wheel, the Connect also sports the upgraded seven-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED daytime running lights, body coloured mirrors, auto on/off headlights and a height adjustable driver’s seat.

Building on the Connect, the Cross largely differs only on cosmetics with the inclusion of 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and roof rails, satin silver front and rear skidplates, plus black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, doors and on the bumpers.

Sitting at the sharp end of the range, the 500X Sport not only benefits from a model specific bodykit, but also bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels, full front and rear LED lights, body colour cladding, a chrome exhaust outlet, titanium exterior detailing and on the inside, sport seats.

As before, all 500X models are front-wheel-drive with the only difference being a six-speed manual gearbox on the Cult and Connect and a six-speed dual-clutch on the Cross and Sport.

Pricing

Standard across the range is a five year/100 000km warranty as well as a three year/60 000km service plan.
