Kia keen on a Seltos based compact MPV

Kia is reportedly plotting a new compact MPV to challenge the likes of the Suzuki Ertiga, Honda BR-V, Mahindra Marazzo and the recently launched Renault Triber in India.

This, according to the automaker’s CEO and President, Han Woo Park, who told Autocar India at the recent unveiling of the new Seltos that, “I’m thinking about how to build our brand image in India and also about our next model and one of the options is an MPV”.

According to the publication, the MPV could provide seating for seven and ride on the same platform as the Seltos if given the green light for production. In India, the newcomer will therefore slot-in below the Carens (main image) which has remained on sale in a number of markets despite having debuted as long ago as the Paris Motor Show seven years ago.

It therefore means that the new people-carrier could be destined for South Africa as the Seltos has already been confirmed for local market introduction next year, though at present, this remains purely speculative.
