Range Rover SVAutobiography upgraded to Ultimate

SVAutobiography is all about cosmetics in making the most luxurious Range Rover stand out even more.

With the current generation Range Rover on course to be replaced next year, Land Rover has introduced yet another limited edition model now available in South Africa.

Like the uniquely South African colour versions of the Sport SVR introduced earlier this month, the new SVAutobiography Ultimate is the work of Solihull’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) SV Bespoke division using the full-size Range Rover SVAutobiography as a base.

Essentially all about cosmetics, the exterior is characterised by a brand-new satin Orchid Green paint finish contrasted by a Narvik Black roof and a special black enamel SV Bespoke badge on the B-pillar.

Riding on 22-inch five-spoke split alloy wheels finished in gloss dark grey with a diamond turned finish, the Ultimate also receives a Graphite Grey coating on the grille, front bumper, bonnet and side vents, while a copper edged finish adorns the Range Rover badge on the bonnet and tailgate.

Inside, the seats are trimmed in Ultimate Tan with Copper Weave Carbon Fibre leather with the option of having the leather made by renowned Italian firm Poltrona Frau, more associated with Maserati.

Capping the interior off are SV branded headrests, an Ebony roofliner, anodised red gear shift paddles, a knurled finish for the starter button, pedals and the rotary gear selector dial for the eight-speed automatic box, Ultimate branded illuminated treadplates and an SV Bespoke Ultimate builder’s plaque with a copper finish on the centre console.

Like the standard SVAutobiography, the Ultimate can also be specified in long wheelbase L  guise, which boasts four seats trimmed in semi-aniline leather with the rears being not only ventilated and heated, but able to recline in order to provide 1.2-metres of legroom while occupants receive a hot stone massage as part of the massaging function.

Also reserved for the L are rear passenger foot rests, tables integrated into the rear of the front seats and a full-length centre console housing not only a Zenith timepiece, but also a refrigerated compartment.

Underneath the bonnet, the SVAutobiography Ultimate offers a choice of two engines; the 415kW/700Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 in the P525 and the 297kW/640Nm 2.0 litre turbocharged plug-in hybrid in the P400e.

In the UK, pricing kicks-off at £183 706 (about R3 750 000) with no word about local pricing announced despite Land Rover confirming availability.
