Kia XCeed revealed in first teaser image

Having announced Seltos as the chosen name for its new small SUV earlier this week, Kia has now released the first official image of its latest crossover, the XCeed.

Boasting a coupe-like appearance with a side-view not dissimilar to that of the Mercedes-Benz GLA and with a front-end mirroring that of certain Infiniti models, the XCeed will reportedly fill the gap between the Stonic and Sportage in Kia’s Europen line-up, with likely the same drivetrain options as the Ceed hatch and ProCeed fastback.

Merely describing the XCeed as being “more emotional and dynamic in format and design than its taller rivals”, Kia has also stated that it offers a “sportier driving position than a traditional SUV” and with “comparable levels of interior space and luggage capacity to Europe’s best-selling SUVs”.

Although the Korean automaker has declined to provide details regarding spec and powertrain, or even what the interior looks like, speculation is that the XCeed will come powered by the T-GDI range of three-and-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, as well as the 1.6 CRDI turbodiesel also used in the Ceed. Transmission options will likely consists of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch, with drive going to the front wheels only.

Complete details will only be revealed when the XCeed makes its world debut on 26 June.
