New Volkswagen Polo GTI could be cheaper

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI is set to launch in June.

According to South Africa’s Car Magazine, the soon to be launched Volkswagen Polo GTI  could be priced lower than the model it replaces.

.

“While the DSG version of the previous-generation Polo GTI came in at R379 900 before it exited our market earlier this year, the new model will apparently start at R375 900,” says the motoring magazine.

The new Polo GTI is set to launch in June, and the reason for the price drop could be that it will be built in the Uitenhage plant here in the Eastern Cape.

Power comes from  a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. The engine makes 147kW and 320N.m, and is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard.

VW says the new Polo GTI will be able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 237km/h.

Volkswagen also says the new Polo GTI will chow 5.9 L/100 km – better than what the outgoing Polo GTI uses.
