Sarel is back on track

One of the highlights of the race will be maestro Sarel van der Merwe’s return behind the wheel of a Ligier Honda sports prototype alongside fellow veteran Riaan Botma.


The Port Elizabeth Aldo Scribante circuit will host the second round of the 2019 Mopar South African Endurance Series this Saturday.

Their toughest competition will include reigning Mopar South Africa Endurance champions Nick Adcock/Michael Jensen (AidCall247 Ligier Honda), Charl/ Harry Arangies (Stradale Lamborghini Gallardo), Stuart White/ Craig Jarvis (Maui Motorhomes Ginetta Corvette), and the similar car of Gavin Cronje and Simon Murray.

Other sports car crews to watch out for include Fritz Kleynhans/ James Forbes (Point Blank Ligier), Trevor Frost/Johannes Botma (Strocam Ligier), Dean Wolson/Gerald Wright (S2000 Opel), Hennie Trollip/Clinton Thorne (Full Output Lotus Seven), Eric Salomon/ Dave Sinclair (Lessons Elf-Toyota 23) and a fleet of little locally-built Nash Volkswagens.

Probable GT5 class winners will include Kishoor Pitamber/ Kris Budnik (Bucket List Ferrari F360 Challenge) and Back draft-Lexus Cobra Roadsters in the hands of Chassen Bright/Tony Martin, plus Brian Martin, Trevor Graham and Mike Mcloughlin.

Top saloon car category chasers will include Dayne Angel/ Jarryd Evans (Autohaus Angel Honda Civic Type R), Theo Van Vuuren/ Keegan Ward (Alfa Romeo Giulia) and Bradley Scorer/ Darren Winterboer (Baron Motor Spares BMW).
