Mahindra Pik Up S6 becomes South Africa’s cheapest automatic bakkie
Self-shifter the same as on the flagship S11 with availability limited to double cab models.
Introduction of the S6 automatic officially makes the Mahindra Pik-Up South Africa’s cheapest self-shifting bakkie
It’s line-up bolstered three months ago by the inclusion of a game viewer, ambulance and a Karoo derivative of the top-spec S11 trim grade, Mahindra has added four more models to the locally made Pik Up range.
The recipient of a series of specification upgrades last year, the Indian automaker has once again focused on the S6 variant that sits below the manual only S10 and the automatic exclusive S11.
Aside from offering the Karoo exterior package previously reserved for the mentioned pair, the S6 now benefits from the latter’s six-speed self-shifter, albeit only on the double cab, with the sole choice being two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive.

Made by Aisin and reprogrammed for South Africa, the inclusion of the ‘box’ has not altered the S6’s specification sheet or its engine. This means outputs of 103kW/320Nm from the 2.2 mHawk turbodiesel and a claimed fuel consumption of 9.3 L/100 km.
Like the manual S6, the automatic has a payload of 1 095 for the two-wheel-drive and 995 kg for the four-wheel-drive, a mechanically locking rear differential, 210 mm of ground clearance, Electronic Stability Control, cruise control, electric windows all around, electric mirrors and a Bluetooth as well as USB enabled sound system.

Standard on all is a four year/120 000 km warranty, as well as a five year/90 000 km service plan.
