Dusk sets over new off-road focused Mahindra Pik-up Karoo
Karoo Dusk is aimed at off-road use and apart from the exterior revisions, also features a rough-and-ready suspension.
Aside from the matte black exterior paint finish, the Dusk also sports a number of unique off-road touches, including a revised suspension.
Having unveiled the speciality game viewer and ambulance versions last week, Mahindra has added a new flagship model to the locally built Pik-up line-up in the shape of the Karoo Dusk.
Based on the range-topping double cab S11 Karoo, the Dusk is aimed primarily at off-road usage in that it comes as standard with four-wheel-drive in addition to model specific 16-inch machined alloy wheels wrapped in General all-terrain tyres, side-steps, the same steel front bumper as the recently added Scorpio Adventure, and a special bull bar.
Finished in a unique matte black hue with bespoke dark blue Karoo decals, the Dusk also receives a diamond plated rear step, a new sports bar, rubberised loadbin, black cladding around the wheel arches, a lockable roller shutter and heavy duty rear bumper, a powder coated steel front bash plate and dual red tow hooks.

Despite remaining unchanged from the S11 on the specification front, Mahindra has fiddled with the suspension by equipping the Dusk with an off-road specific design comprising new bushings, heavy duty gas-filled shock absorbers and bespoke heavy duty rear leaf springs. Surprisingly though, ground clearance remains at 210 mm.
Up front, the 2.2 mHawk turbodiesel engine has not been altered with output of 103kW/320Nm. As mentioned, drive is routed to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Priced at R549 999, the S11 Karoo Dusk comes as standard with a four year/120 000 km warranty as well as a five year/90 000 km service plan.
