Karters seal Rotax world series places

The Guateng karter’s victory was by no means straight forward, but his championship books his place in the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals in New Orleans on November. It is a race meeting that is effectively the world championship of karting.

Frost scored a pair of race victories to sew up his title, but he was pushed all the way by Durban’s Cristiano Morgado.

Morgado, the current World DD2 Masters Champion, has already booked his place in the New Orleans final by dint of his victory in the recent Rotax Florida Winter Tour in the USA.

Luca Canderle from Durban, who finished third on Saturday, is also off to New Orleans, thanks to a win in the African Open DD2 championships, earlier in the year.

Another driver haded for New Orleans is Leeroy Poulter, who is the current African Open DD2 Masters Champion.

Luke Herring took the Rotax Max Challenge Class and also wins a place in the Grand Finals. He was followed home by Chad van Beurden and Eugene Denyssen.

The Junior Max category was won by Jordan Sherratt, although the final round of the four-leg series was won by Bradley Liebenberg.
Sherratt also wins a place in the New Orleans spectacular which sees 72 top drivers in each category compete from over 60 kart countries from around the world.

Unfortunate to lose out in this class was Cape Town’s Jurie Swart who led up until the final round but had an indifferent weekend.

The final qualifier for New Orleans was Marouan Selmi who won the DD2 Master’s Category. He will be up against fellow South African and current world champion Morgado in this category.
