Jarama racetrack tribute edition Toyota GR Supra revealed

The Jarama Racetrack Edition is not expected to come to South Africa as it has been designated an Old Continent model only.

Toyota has paid tribute to the famed Jarama racetrack in Spain by unveiling a special edition version of the GR Supra destined for European markets.

Already billed as one of the rarest versions of the modern era Supra to be build, the Jarama Racetrack Edition not only pays homage to the circuit that hosted the Spanish Grand Prix eleven times between 1967 and 1981, but also where the pre-production Supra was driven for the first time before its world debut three years ago.

Restricted to just 90 units, the unique touches include black forged 19-inch alloy wheels, red painted four-piston brake calipers, a Horizon Blue paint finish and on the inside, black Alcantara heated and electric seats, blue stitching, carbon fibre inserts and a carbon strip on the dashboard with a builder’s plaque and map of the circuit.

Underneath the bonnet, the Jarama remains unchanged from the European-spec Supra, which continues to use the 250 kW version of the BMW derived 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine instead of the more powerful 285 kW derivative unveiled in Australia and North America last year.

Torque is however unchanged at 500 Nm with drive going to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h with the 0-100 km/h sprint taking 4.3 seconds.

As mentioned, the Jarama Racetrack Edition is not expected to come to South Africa as it has been designated an Old Continent model only. No pricing was announced.
