Have you ever driven a Ford Lassie?
Ford will once again feature at the annual World of Dogs and Cats (Wodac) exhibition, being held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand between July 18-20.

Showgoers will be able to view Ford’s pet-friendly models at the Ford stand, including the Kuga, Ranger and Tourneo Custom. The Kuga will show off features that perfectly complement families who have furry friends.
Rear-view parking sensors alert drivers when their pets are out of view behind the car. Adaptable rear storage in the Kuga lets pets be accommodated alongside humans, and the hands-free lift-gate can be activated by foot when owners’ hands are full.
Smart technologies are one of the pillars of the Ford brand, and Kuga features all of the above as well as SYNC™, which lets drivers use their mobile phones in hands-free operation. Voice commands can then be used to operate their phones, including dialling numbers and names, as well as controlling media playback.
Animal lovers will also be able to experience a more diverse Ford line-up. The Ranger will be shown off as a practical option for those with larger dogs, or even horses. Featuring Trailer Sway Control as part of its Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), the Ranger can ensure safety when towing horsebox trailers. The system constantly assesses speed, steering input, yaw and acceleration to prevent a trailer from swaying and causing the vehicle to lose control.
The Tourneo Custom will also be on display at Wodac. This versatile people transporter, based on the award-winning Transit van, can transport family and pets, with loads of space to spare.
Transporting of pet food will also feature on the agenda for FMCSA, which has partnered with Wodac and Complete Dog Food for a Guinness World Record attempt. Together, the companies hope to collect 20 tons of pet food in the seven days leading up to Wodac. The record-setting haul will then be transported, using Ford Rangers, for delivery at various animal shelters around Johannesburg.
Members of the public will also be able to contribute to the collection drive. Participating Ford dealerships will be taking donations for pet food, with the final weigh-in taking place at Wodac on July 20. The list of participating Ford dealerships can be found on www.dogsandcats.co.za.
