Despite showcasing the all-electric Ora and the retro-styled Tank 300 as its main attractions at the Nampo Agricultural Expo in Bothaville in the Free State, Great Wall Motors (GWM) also used the event to debut the hybrid Jolion HEV, as well as a special edition version of the P-Series bakkie.
Based on the top-spec double cab LT 4×4 automatic, the simply titled P-Series Limited Edition sports a distinct off-road focused look GWM says bolsters the “off-road capability it has become known for”.

In this regard, the Chinese automaker has furnished the Limited Edition with 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Discover all-terrain tyres, revised the front and rear bumpers, added a snorkel, a black sports bar and black plastic wheel cladding on the wheel arches.
While the colour coded door handles from the standard P-Series remains, a winch has been integrated into the bumper as standard, with the final unique piece being a 12-volt accessory connector located within the engine bay.
Inside, the Limited Edition has not been altered at all, meaning standard specification continues to consist of a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a pull-out step within the tailgate, remote engine start, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, six-speaker sound system as well as:
Like its specification sheet, GWM has kept the P-Series Limited Edition’s powertrain unchanged with outputs of 120kW/400Nm from the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine.
As mentioned, drive goes to the rear or all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. New though is the addition of a front diff-lock as a means of complimenting the already present rear and the torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive system.
Carried over though is the four mode drive selector with four settings – Eco, Standard, Sport and 4L – an off-road tuned Cruise Control and three additional off-road modes; Snow, Mud and Sand.
Officially also the new flagship P-Series model for the time being despite exact production figures not being announced, the Limited Edition carries a R54 000 premium over the LT and as is usual, includes five-year/100 000 km warranty and service plan in its sticker price.
