Five-door Mini coming to SA

The second body variant of the new third-generation Mini and the consistent expansion of the model programme with the addition of the Mini five-door creates new opportunities for the brand's signature driving fun and for the first time the British premium brand is represented with a five-door model in the small car segment.

The wheelbase is expanded by 72mm over the new Mini and creates space for three seats in the rear, with 72mm more foot space and legroom, 15mm more headroom and 61mm more interior width at elbow height and luggage compartment space boosted to 278 litres.

At the local market launch of the new Mini five-door we will get two variants. A Mini Cooper five-door with a 100kW three-cylinder petrol engine and the Mini Cooper S five-door with a 141kW four-cylinder petrol engine.

You will get a six-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed Steptronic transmission or Steptronic sports transmission as an optional extra.

The new Mini five-door is scheduled to go on sale in South Africa in the last quarter of 2014.
