Durban to hear bikes roar again

The event will be round five of this year’s Monster Energy SuperGP Champions Trophy, to be held on the old Durban International Airport’s runways.

The headline act will be the Monster Energy SuperGP races for near-standard 1 000cc Superbikes.

Clint Seller will be the man to beat on his Portable Shade Kawasaki ZX10, with his toughest contenders Lance Isaacs (Black Swan BMW S1000RR), Brent Harran (Mantella Trading Kawasaki ZX10), Brandon Goode (CJ Auto ZX10) Ronald Slamet (Novel Ford ZX10) and Garrick Vlok (Kawasaki ZX10).

Steven Odendaal (PS Race! Kawasaki ZX6RR) is currently in control of the Super600 championship, with a large points lead over second-placed Dean Vos (Emtek Brother Yamaha R6), Matthew Scholtz (Mantella Trading Kawasaki ZX6RR), Anthony Shelley (Fercor Kawasaki ZX6RR) and Cameron Petersen (Emtek Brother Yamaha R6).

Kyle Robinson (Fantech Kawasaki ZX10) leads the SuperM Challenge from Justin Gillensen (Portable Shade Kawasaki ZX10R), Beau Levey (Motos Klerksdorp KTM RCB 1190) and Janine Davies (Enbridge Torque-Sure BMW S1000RR).

Two high-profile first-time entries in SuperM will see Sheridan Morais and Chris Leeson line up on Kawasaki ZX10 machines backed by Pride Logistics, Cazzmania Signs and EmTek Racing.

There will also be Porsche Club races on Saturday, primarily to lay down rubber on the runway surface.
