Chery P10 throws down the gauntlet

“We have taken time to bring this model to market as we undertook local testing to ensure it would stand up to rugged local conditions,” said Brett Soso, managing director of Chery SA. “The results have been very pleasing, and we are launching the P10 full of confidence with both its build quality and performance.

“We are targeting the hospitality industry, corporates, schools, universities and the like with an affordable, roomy and economical vehicle to transport 14 passengers and a driver.”

The Chery P10 is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 125kW at 5 500r/min and 235N.m of torque at 1 900r/min. The engine complies with Euro IV emission regulations, and the P10 is economical for this category of vehicle at 11l/100km.

Drive goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

Comfort and convenience features include electric front windows and exterior rear view mirror adjustment, as well as a radio and CD player with four speakers, power steering, four-way adjustable driver’s and front passenger’s seats, adjustable rear seat backrests and front and sliding door footlights. The seats are cloth-covered.

Safety and security items include anti-lock ABS brakes with electronic brake distribution (EBD), anti-theft alarm immobiliser, central locking with remote activation, halogen headlights, rear window wiper and side impact bars in the doors.

The Chery P10 is covered by a three-year/100 000 kilometre warranty with three-year roadside assistance. This new addition to the growing range of Chery vehicles in South Africa is sold and serviced by 36 Chery dealers countrywide.
