Buy Pink to fight breast cancer

When you buy a set of pink valve caps for R50 from your nearest Supa Quick dealer, Bridgestone will donate the entire proceeds to the PinkDrive Breast Cancer Initiative to fight breast cancer.

That is the word from the well-known tyre maker which has already teamed up with PinkDrive to provide tyres for its mobile mammography and education units.

“The pink valve caps come in a set of four and are available at Supa Quick outlets across South Africa in support of the PinkDrive campaign,” said Bridgestone PR Manager, Mandy Lovell.

“The aim of the mobile mammography units is to enable women to have easy access to screening for breast cancer, especially during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” she explained.

The earlier breast cancer is detected, the higher the likelihood of a successful cure. However, many South Africans don’t have access to the technology to detect breast cancer, and PinkDrive aims to reach them with modern screening tools and education.

The Pink Valve Caps are not just for women, but men too. It’s not commonly realised that breast cancer can also affect men, and PinkDrive has reminded South Africans that both men and women over 40 can have mammograms to assist in early detection of breast cancer.

To date, PinkDrive has provided more than 5000 free mammograms, conducted over 50 000 free clinical breast examinations and provided breast health education to over 70 000 South Africans.

“We encourage motorists to buy their pink valve caps to assist with this worthy cause, show your family and friends and get them to join the cause, Lovell said. “You can also visit www.pinkdrive.co.za to find out more about breast health and www.bridgestone.co.za for more information on the Pink Valve Cap Project.

This campaign runs from October to December and all the proceeds from the sale of these valve caps will be donated to the PinkDrive Breast Cancer Initiative,” she concluded.
