In the end it was Francesco Bagnaia (Sky VR46) who emerged victorious, taking his seventh Moto2 victory of the season.
He finished 1.5 seconds ahead of his Sky team-mate Luca Marini, while Binder’s Red Bull KTM team-mate Miguel Oliveira, came home third. Binder currently lies third in the Moto2 championship with 157 points, trailing Oliveira (231) and Bagnaia (259).
Fellow South African Steven Odendaal took his NB-RW to 23rd place after suffering both handling and power problems in the Moto2 race.
Youngster Darryn Binder dropped out of the Moto3 race with electronic bothers with his AJO KTM.
