For South African Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Brad Binder (right), last Sunday’s Moto2 victory at the Aragon Grand Prix was a very special occasion. It was at this track that Binder clinched the 2016 Moto3 world title.
Last weekend’s pole position and eventual victory saw Binder cementing his current third place in the 2018 Moto2 world championship.
Binder, who has been signed to race for the Red Bull KTM Ajo in next year’s Moto2 championship, rode a supremely tactical race at Aragon.
Starting from pole position, he hung in third place behind Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, leaving them to dispute the lead.
With six laps left, his two rivals slowed with overheating tyres in the circuit’s blistering hot conditions and Binder calmly passed them to take the victory.
“I am very grateful for the victory, which is my second in the Moto2 class, and I am very happy to have achieved it here at MotorLand Aragon, which is a very special track for me. “I have taken some very important points for the team’s Championship, thanks to their brilliant efforts,” he added.
Binder’s victory saw the Red Bull KTM Ajo equipe increase its Moto2 team points advantage to 41.
