The star-studded event was hosted by radio veteran Tbo Touch and Audi SA, where a number of celebrities and influencers such as Somizi, Tshepi Vundla, LeAnne Dlamini, Lunga Shabalala, Naomi Noinyane, Thembi Seete, Gareth Pon and Seth Sezi had the opportunity to experience the all-new Audi R8 around the legendary and newly refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. The day started off with an enlightening lecture session on the theory of vehicle dynamics, and from thereon they perfected the art of driving by practicing high-speed driving techniques, emergency situation simulations and demonstrations of the latest vehicle technologies of the new R8.
Excited about the experience, the celebrities took to social media to share cute snaps they managed to take at the Grand Prix, and left their followers envious of their adrenalin-pumping thrilling experience. “Yesterday with the coolest host. I know you can hear that sound @iamleannemusic @shashinaidoo thank you for a great time #audisport #leagueofperformance,” Thembi Seete posted on Instagram. “What a feeling #power #R8s great experience. Thank you,” she continued.
“Audi South Africa is proud to introduce the Audi Sport brand to South Africa,” said head of Audi SA, Paul Sansom, “We know that South African consumers have a particular appreciation for high performance vehicles, hence we have embarked on this strategy to formalize a dedicated Audi sport dealer network with specially trained staff to cater for this discerning customer,” concluded Sansom.
With a total of four awards, the Audi R8 is the most successful model in the history of the World Car Awards. The predecessor to the R8 had already taken home two World Performance Car awards, and a World Car Design of the Year award in the prestigious competition.
