Thinly disguised all-new Ford Everest shows its uncovered face

It’s sibling already out in the clear, attention now shifts from the Ranger to the all-new Ford Everest, which has so far attracted comparatively little attention ahead of its world reveal next year.

While captured on a number of occasions undergoing testing this year, both in Australia where development takes place alongside the Ranger, a Thailand-based Instagram page has now published images of the newcomer with little to moderate layers of wrapping.

Snapped by user apipat Thaimanee, before being uploaded by the Kurdistan_Automotive_Blog, the pictures show the Everest, unsurprisingly, with the same Maverick-inspired front facia as the Ranger comprising of the chrome logo bar connecting the wraparound LED headlights.

Fitted with side steps and riding on alloy wheels more representative of the mid-range XLT model, the Everest sports a side profile similar to that of the Explorer, while the design of the thicker D-pillar, side window and fender resembles that of the Hyundai Palisade.

Despite the rear being unseen, the interior is expected to be identical to that of the Ranger in look and design, albeit with likely better materials as per the Everest’s less workman-like persona.

As is known by now, the Everest will ride on the same revised T6.2 platform as the Ranger and incoming Volkswagen Amarok, with production on course to take place next year at Dearborn’s Silverton Plant outside Pretoria.

Up front, the choice of engines will comprise the upgraded 2.0-litre single and bi-turbodiesel Panther engines, as well as the eagerly awaited 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6.

All three will continue to be built at the Struandale Plant in Port Elizabeth following Ford’s R600-million investment into the facility earlier this month. Transmissions are set to include the six-speed manual, the six-speed automatic and the revised General Motors co-developed ten-speed self-shifter.

Although details are largely unknown at present, expect more, including more spy images and official teasers, to be released ahead of its reveal next year.
