A second innings for Jonty
Proteas cricket legend Jonty Rhodes will be back for his second innings of motor racing at the Vryburg 400, round six of the Donaldson Cross Country Championship, in North West Province on September 6 and 7.

Rhodes will again act as the celebrity co-driver for former South African champion Archie Rutherford in the Imperial Automotive Nissan Navara that runs under the Regent Racing banner.
The champion fielder became an overnight sensation with his diving run out of Pakistani batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq in the 1992 World Cup in Australia, and had his first taste of cross country racing with Rutherford on the Gold 400 at the end of last season.
“After failing to finish on his first attempt, Jonty has pestered us non-stop for another bite at the cherry,” said Regent Racing team principal Terence Marsh who himself is a former professional cricket player.
Rhodes joins former Springbok rugby player Stefan Terblanche as the second celebrity co-driver to join the Regent Racing team for a second time. After competing on the 4×4 Mega World 400 last year, Terblanche then sat alongside the highly experienced Rutherford on this year’s Toyota Dealer Sugarbelt 400 in KwaZulu-Natal.
