The 100More Thank You Cocktail and Essay Awards ceremony recognises the IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall student, Claudine Otto

Otto acknowledged the reality that she must work diligently to secure a position within a firm, and learn to distinguish herself among her peers.

Claudine Otto, a third-year Bachelor of Commerce in Law student at the IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall, was honored at the 100More Thank You Cocktail & Essay Awards ceremony for her victory in the prestigious 100More Essay Competition.

Her essay, entitled: Women who were denied in the legal practice, examined the historical and current challenges faced by women in the legal field.

The 100More Campaign aims to celebrate women’s achievements in the legal profession and support the development of a new generation of female lawyers who will use their degrees to pursue diverse ambitions.

The initiative empowers young women to make significant contributions in the legal sector and beyond.

The awards ceremony exuded positivity and excitement, fostering inspiring conversations and valuable connections. Participants celebrated not only their personal achievements but also the collective progress made over the past century.

Otto expressed her gratitude for the opportunity provided by the competition, stating, “the competition encouraged me to do extra research about women in the legal field and how they grew.

“This expanded my knowledge, and I learned how biased the legal field was, and often still is, towards women. It helped me to prepare for the world of work, knowing that I do have to work hard to get a spot in a company, and to stand out.”
