Reporting on October 5, five days into starting the initiative, the church had managed to raise funds and collect basic essential items such as groceries, toiletries, and clothes from their station at the Midway Mews Shopping Centre.

Yakeen Chanderalall, from the church’s outreach department, said the main aim is to assist families, and ensure that affected matriculants have the necessary stationery to prepare for their final exams, scheduled to commence on October 21.

“The Well Church is passionate about helping families in need. So far, we have managed to raise over R28 000 in cash donations and pledges which is phenomenal in our short space of time. However, we are hoping for more pledges to be a blessing to the many families affected by this tragic event,” said Chanderalall.

“Another special thanks to the outreach volunteers at the Well Church for creating a buzz around the victims affected by this tragic event. The Midrand community has been phenomenal in their giving and without your support this initiative would not have been made possible.
