Christ Church learner publishes her second book

NOORDWYK – Christ Church Preparatory School and College Grade 5 learner Tshegofatso Rasebitse has published her first book of poetry.

Christ Church Preparatory School and College Grade 5 learner, Tshegofatso Rasebitse published her first book of poetry, Tshegofatso’s Adventures in Fun and Poetry.

The book of poetry is Rasebitse’s second book, her first being The Dream Thief, a story about a young protagonist caught up in the terrifying world of child trafficking.

Rasebitse said her inspiration for writing and publishing her books was her mother. “I was first inspired by my mom after she published her first book. I saw the need to write to increase children authors and literature.

“I felt that, as a child, I can identify with what children want to read about and I want to inspire children to also write books.”

Rasebitse added that her father had encouraged her to keep writing and checked up on her progress. “Having to balance schoolwork and writing was not easy. Sometimes I took a long break because I felt like it is too much work and it cannot be done. I started writing Dream Thief in 2018 and the poetry in 2020.”

Spokesperson for her school Dawn Schmitz said, “Christ Church Preparatory School and College is extremely proud of Tshegofatso and we look forward to seeing more of her publications in the future.”
