UPDATE: Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre launch search for missing pilot

Gerhard Minnaar, the missing pilot, left Nelspruit Airport on Tuesday, October 15 at about 08:30 and has not returned.

The Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre (ARCC) has officially launched a search and rescue operation to locate the missing pilot, Gerhard Minnaar.

He was last seen at the Nelspruit Airport around 08:30 on Tuesday, October 15, when he took off in his gyrocopter. He was heading in the direction of Musina. His last visible location was Louis Trichardt.

The ARCC’s operations chief, Gregory Critchley, said they will be working with the SAPS Airwing, SARZA (local pilots) and local ground assistance.
