Wednesday’s Lotto winner yet to come forward to claim jackpot

A person in Limpopo, who became a millionaire overnight after hitting the Lotto jackpot of a sum of more than R7 million on Wednesday, has not yet come forward to claim the prize.

National Lottery Operator ITHUBA on Friday revealed that somewhere in Thabamoopo, Limpopo, a lucky winner was yet to come forward.

“ITHUBA is pleased to announce that the LOTTO PLUS 2 jackpot from Wednesday 25 August 2021 of over R7 Million has been won. The winning ticket was purchased at New Swartklip Café in Thabamoopo, Limpopo,” reads the statement.

It said the winner spent R40 on the winning ticket using the manual selection method.

The winning numbers from Wednesday’s draw were 08, 20, 22, 43, 48, 52, and the Bonus Ball was 35.

CEO of ITHUBA Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the winner for yet another big jackpot during the year.

“We encourage all players, especially players from Thabamoopo, Limpopo, to check their tickets as they may be our latest millionaire.”

ITHUBA reminded players that Friday’s PowerBall jackpot was estimated in the region of R45 million.

R8 million PowerBall winner wants his wife back

Another winner – who spent only R22.50 on a ticket from the Brazil Cafe in Pretoria North – earlier this week said his wife had left him this year, and now he wants her back.

While it feels like he’s living in a dream and can’t believe this is really happening, he explained that his wife had left him because he didn’t have enough money.

“I have no words to express my happiness. It has been such an emotionally draining year. My wife left me at the beginning of the year because I did not have enough money.”

He said he wanted his wife back to rebuild his life with her and their children. To boot, he’ll now be able to give her their dream home as well.

Apart from investing in their home, the winner said the rest of the jackpot would go towards purchasing a new home for his parents and paying off his debt.

He would also like to buy a new car, set up an education trust for his children and invest the rest of his winnings for a rainy day, he said.

Mabuza congratulated the lucky guy, happy that another South African multimillionaire was created.

“When we took over the operations of the National Lottery, we promised to offer unprecedented, life-changing
jackpots; and we have delivered just that,” Mabuza said.
