Powerball winner finally claims his winnings

The final of the two winners of the R128 million Powerball jackpot has now claimed his prize.

The winner – who hails from Rustenburg – walked away with R64,379,943.80 from the October 20 draw.

Ithuba revealed that the winner purchased his winning ticket via the FNB banking app.

After 22 consecutive roll-overs, the jackpot stood at a whopping all-time high of R128 million. But the draw on October 20 saw two people match all six numbers.

The first of the two winners to claim her prize had purchased her winning ticket via the Absa banking app.

The winner who purchased her ticket via the Absa banking app told the media that she planned to buy her dream home and then would also be donating money to charitable organisations.

Meanwhile, the winner who purchased his ticket via the FNB app said that he would be using some of his winnings as capital to start his own business.

The next Powerball draw is set to take place on 31 October 2023, with R27 million up for grabs.
