One lucky Lotto player’s life is about to change… The South African Lottery Commission is looking for the first Powerball jackpot winner of 2023.
The player – who has yet to step forward – correctly matched five numbers plus the PowerBall for an eye-watering payout of R72 989 769 in Tuesday’s draw.
Another player matched five numbers (but missed the mark on the PowerBall itself) for a R443 550 payout.
In addition, 30 players bagged the tier 3 winnings of R9 258.40 each, while 455 won R1 035.
The next PowerBall draw will take place on Friday, 13 January, with the main game starting afresh with a jackpot of R6 million.
In addition, the PowerBall Plus draw rolled over to R42 million. Meaning a total of R48 million is up for grabs.
But wait! There’s more! And time is running out… An estimated R37 million is up for grabs in tonight’s Lotto Draw:
PowerBall entries cost R5 per board including VAT. PowerBall Plus costs an additional R2.50 per board. You can also play PowerBall on selected banking apps (T’s & C’s apply).

Who knows? You might just be South Africa’s second lottery winner this year.
Back in November, a Gauteng resident won a whopping R135 million with a ticket purchased in Rosettenville. It’s the fourth-highest jackpot to date.

At the time, National Lottery CEO Charmaine Mabuza said Ithuba is honoured to “supply our players with valid information concerning all winning tickets”.
She said those playing via a banking app are first contacted by their bank to notify them of their winnings.
Mabuza added: “The winner will receive their winnings tax-free between 48 to 72 hours from the time to claiming”.
