Friends of the Libraries to host Jo’burg book sale

Bookworms in Johannesburg will soon be able to snap up second-hand books at bargain prices during the Friends of the Johannesburg Public Libraries book sale.

Previous book sales held by the group have always been extremely successful and have attracted large numbers of people, and chairperson Zara Natali says: “There has always been a wonderful vibe at the book sale with book lovers coming together from all over, finding long sought-after treasures, exchanging ideas and generally enjoying the day.”

She added that the proceeds from the sale would go towards helping all of the public libraries falling under the ambit of the City of Johannesburg.

City of Johannesburg Library and Information Services deputy director, Atilla Lourens, who works with reading development programmes, says that the assistance of the Friends of the Library group to increase the impact of reading development and information literacy programmes within the city is important and is very much appreciated.

Whether one is an avid bibliophile or simply want to do some early Christmas shopping, head to the Marks Park sports club in Judith Road, Emmarentia, between 09:00 and 17:00 on Sunday, 15 September.
