SABC viewers urged to join Generations boycott
Cosatu has reiterated the call for SABC1 viewers to switch off their TV sets between 8pm and 8.30pm on Monday in support of the 16 Generations actors who were fired.

The actors were fired after they went on strike, claiming the broadcaster and MMSV had failed to deliver on promises it made to them during their strike last year.
The actors have been out of work for a month now.
Currently addressing the media in Johannesburg, Secretary general Zwelinzima Vavi said Cosatu is throwing its full weight behind the actors.
He urged viewers to also boycott the daily repeats of the soapie, which airs between 9am and 9.30am every weekday, including the omnibus that runs on Saturdays between 9am and midday.
Veteran actor Patrick Shai, who plays the part of Patrick Tlhaole in the soapie, has also called on all actors in the industry to join the fired Generations actors.
“Actors must work in an industry that is free of exploitation. This is not a Generations issue only, but an industry issue that affects everyone involved,” Shai said.
Vavi has also accused the show’s executive director Mfundi Vundla of being arrogant.
