New SA film ‘Leading Lady’: international trailer

The film is scheduled to hit the local movie circuit on November 28, and production company Dark Matter Studios are giving viewers another sneak peek into the film with a second trailer release.

From the director of Fanie Fourie’s Lobola, Henk Pretorius, winner of the SIFF 2013 Golden Space Needle Award for Best Film, comes a tale of an aspiring English actress (Jodi Rutherford) who persuades a South African farmer from Brandfort (Kobus Willemse) to prepare her for a role as Afrikaner war heroine in a major Hollywood production.

In return, she undertakes to direct the annual concert at the farm.

Jodi’s interaction with the quirky, small-town citizens of Brandfort and the stubborn Kobus, teaches her that there is more to life than Hollywood’s “lights, camera, action!”

Local talents Bok van Blerk and Brümilda van Rensburg are seen alongside Irish actress, Katie McGrath (Dracula, Merlin) and hunky Hollywood actor, Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal, Shawshank Redemption).
