While the who’s who of the South African entertainment scene were getting down alongside Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung to celebrate their newly-officiated union this past weekend, media personality Khanyi Mbau was missing out on receiving her first award that serves as recognition of her skill as an actress.
South African icon Dr John Kani took to Twitter to alert Mbau that attendees were sad to see that she was not present to collect her award.

Mbau responded by letting Dr Kani know that she had to honour the invitation she received to Somizi and Mohale’s wedding but that she was “guttered” by missing out on the moment.

The awards took place on Saturday evening at Gold Reef City and Dr Kani was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the film industry.
Apart from Kani’s tweets, little else has been published about the event and the evening’s other winners.
