LISTEN: ‘Diamonds’ remix gets maskandi artist Mbuzeni Mkhize a collab with Rihanna

The two will meet in December to work on a song together.

Maskandi artist Mbuzeni Mkhize may have lost to Sgwebo Sentambo in the Best Maskandi Album category at this year’s South African Music Awards, but the artist will be taking his music to the global audience following his collaboration with Rihanna.

The artist was nominated in the category alongside Thokozani, Ofeleba, and Ichwane Lebhaca.

Mbuzeni reportedly caught Rihanna’s attention after performing his rendition of her hit song Diamonds in Istanbul in April last year.

The artist told Thabo Mdluli and Bob Mabena on Power Breakfast on Tuesday morning that he would be writing a love song and the two musicians would be in studio in December to work on their song.

Listen to his rendition of Diamonds:

While in Istanbul, the musician also performed his songs and wowed the audience with his guitar skills.
