Tamia headed to SA for tour

The singer is a six-time Grammy Award nominee and has also been nominated for numerous other awards.


Internationally acclaimed diva Tamia is including a one night only concert at Time Square, Menlyn Maine during her upcoming Breakout tour in South Africa.

She will perform at the Sun Arena stage on February 22 before heading to Durban for a concert there.

The Canadian-born songstress released a new album, Passion Like Fire, last year. Fans will hear songs from this album and some of her other hits.

Tamia doesn’t need much introduction as she has a loyal fan following in South Africa. She has had a successful music career which really got into gear in 1994, when veteran producer Quincy Jones asked her to collaborate on his album Q’s Jook Joint (1995).

She earned Grammy Award nominations for their collaboration on You Put a Move on My Heart and Slow Jams.

Her debut album was released in 1998 and was followed by a series of successful albums with Elektra Records. Several songs from these albums became hit singles on the pop and R&B record charts.

Since leaving Elektra Records, she has released most of her projects on her own label, Plus One Music Group, through ventures with Def Jam, eOne Music and others. In 2015, her sixth album, Love Life, reached number two on Billboard’s Top R&B/HipHop Albums.

A NAACP Image Award recipient for her work with singer Eric Benét, Tamia is a six-time Grammy Award nominee. She has also been nominated for numerous other awards, including a Soul Train Music Award, a Source Award and four Juno Awards.
