WATCH: Meet the new James Bond – black, female and talented Lashana Lynch

Lynch will play a new character who takes over Bond’s secret agent number after he leaves MI6.

After years of rumours that the next James Bond would either be a woman (possibly played by Charlize Theron) or a black man (perhaps played by Idris Elba), UK publication The Mail confirmed on Sunday she will be both.

The new bond will be played by British actress Lashana Lynch after feminist TV writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge took the artistic license to take the story in a new direction.

The film, which is currently being shot in Italy and the UK, will follow the journey of a new character who takes over Bond’s secret agent number after he leaves MI6 reports Daily Mail UK.

As such, Craig will star in part of the film as he hands over the mantle to Lynch in addition to trying his usual seductive tricks on her.

Another feminist change to the franchise will be the retirement of the phrase “Bond girls”. They will now be addressed as “Bond women”.

Fans of the Marvel franchise will recognise Lynch as fighter pilot Maria Rambeau from the 2019 Captain Marvel film.

Before that, she starred in a number of British productions.
