Liewe Lisa review – Finding the girl, losing the girl
The acting does not truly engage one and there is little chemistry between the characters.

Liewe Lisa is a bland and boring Afrikaans production in which the hero, a young man who wants to become a writer, seems sorry for everything that happens around him.
He utters these words every time something goes wrong in his life.
Writer and director Hendrik Cronje plays a character named Daniel who gives up a promising career in finance to realise his writing dreams.
The plot then becomes more entangled as the good-looking young Daniel first engages in an illicit love affair with Michelle (Barbara-Marie Immelman), the wife of his father’s best friend, and then, to add insult to injury, falls madly in love with Lisa (Elani Dekker), the man’s stepdaughter, whom he pursues with a vengeance.

It’s all about finding the girl, losing the girl, finding the girl, losing the girl and then trying to find himself.
The acting does not truly engage one and there is little chemistry between Daniel and Lisa.
Zane Meas gives a solid performance as Tom, a lonely fisherman with a past who befriends Daniel and attempts to steer him in the right direction.
Beautiful cinematography cannot save this production, but it may find some traction with a younger, female audience.
