Da L.E.S doing right by baby mama

Leslie Mampe, better known as South African rapper Da L.E.S, is apparently doing right by his baby mama, despite reportedly not being happy about their unplanned pregnancy.

Some five months ago, a 23-year-old woman allegedly moved into the house Da L.E.S shares with his mother but the exact status of the two’s relationship is, according to a close colleague who spoke to SundayWorld, not necessarily that of a couple.

“He’s not happy about the turn of events because the pregnancy wasn’t planned,” the colleague revealed. “But he wants to do the right thing, and his mother is thrilled that there’s going to be a little Les running around in the house.”

Da L.E.S reportedly refused to comment.

Born in Washington DC to South African parents studying in the States, Da L.E.S moved to SA when his parents returned in 1993. He kicked off his rapping career alongside Ishmael ‘Ish’ Morabe and Bongani ‘Bongz’ Fassie in 2007, as one part of hip hop trio Jozi, who broke onto the music scene with very popular album ‘Muthaland Crunk’, for which they won a MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). The offering also received nominations for a South African Music Award (SAMA), Metro FM Award, and a Channel O Award.

In 2008, Da L.E.S released a solo debut album called ‘Fresh 2 Def’, which proved equally successful with nominations for both a SAMA and MAMA. His latest album, ‘Mandela Money’, is set to drop on 24 September, with singles ‘Kontrol’ featuring AKA and ‘Heaven’ with AKA and Maggz, already big hits with heavy radio rotation.
