Khune, DJ Tira’s son in social media storm over video of teen girl

Tshegofatsho says a big deal has been made out of an innocent video.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has found himself in the middle of a social media storm after a video showing the goalkeeper with a girl who is not his girlfriend.

The short clip only shows the face of the girl, said to be 18-year-old Tshegofatso Mbalenhle, and half of Khune’s face.

Apart from the familiar face, the social media streets concluded that the man in the video was because of a frame of Khune’s jersey no 16, which hangs on the wall in the background.

Not much is done or said, but the clip has been trending since.

The clip was shared by Instagram user and DJ Tira’s son Junior Khathi, aka tanktherockstar, with the caption: “Loyalty over Royalty I’maa Die For Respect, I Gave You My All And This is how You Repay me??@ttshego_m Toast To The Truest Moments We Shared I Really Loved You.”

Though the clip has definitely set tongues wagging, some social media users have argued that this could be a PR stunt as the DJ’s son has a single coming out on Friday, and he made sure to include the details in his Instagram story, along with the “big reveal”.

The two men apparently also live on the same estate, according to the social media streets.

According to her social media accounts, Mbalenhle turned 18 in August.

Responding to the backlash, Tshego said in tweets she has since deleted: “It’s so sad that such an innocent video was turned into something that it’s not, destroying people’s reputations. But it is well with my soul.

“He will heal.”

Khune also posted a picture of his girlfriend and captioned it: “Love of my life.”

The video has divided social media users, with some saying the girl was too young for Khune, while others used Zodwa Wabantu’s choice of men to argue that age was just a number.

Zodwa, Tank, Khune and She’s 18 have been trending since as the debate on the suitable age gap between lovers rages.

Khune made headlines earlier this year after posting a picture with young Durban model and student Sphelele Mak.

The couple then confirmed their relationship with several snaps of each other, with one where Sphelele told Khune she loved him.
