Steve Harvey’s advice to Somizi

He gave some words of advice, which, according to Mhlongo, ignited a new purpose inside him.

South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo almost lost his mind when he met with American comedian and TV talk show host Steve Harvey, who not only recognised him but took a moment to give him a few pointers.

Mhlongo, who is known for his comedic outbursts, fashion sense, and TV gimmicks, took to social media to document the moment he and Harvey exchanged ideas.

In an Instagram post, he said: “I walked into the studio as he, Steve Harvey, was walking out. I contained myself and just said good morning Mr Harvey. He (Harvey) said wait: ‘I remember you from two years ago at [the] Essence fest’. That was my reaction on the picture.”

Moments later, Harvey went back into the studio where Somizi was preparing for a show and asked his camera crew to leave the room, as he had something to say to Somizi.

“The words of advice and wisdom he shared for a good 20 ignited my fire inside to another level. One thing stood out: When he said always remain unique and authentic, you will never go hungry.”

Although he didn’t get into details, Somizi maintains this advice from one of America’s most bankable TV personalities stood out for him the most.

Harvey is in the country to promote the local version of his popular TV series Family Feud, which will soon be aired on our small screens.
