Kwaito star succumbs to heart attack

Tshepo Mohale will be buried on Saturday in Soweto.


Amaskumfete group member Tshepo Mohale reportedly died on Monday afternoon at his home in Jabulani, Soweto, from a heart attack. The 41-year-old was a member of the group which was founded by musician Doc Shebeleza in the early ’90s.

The group gave us hit songs Tsipa, Four 5, and Like This, Like that, among others.

Speaking to The Sowetan, Doc Shebeleza said Mohale was okay when he left for the ANC manifesto launch rally in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

“When I arrived on Monday afternoon I was shocked to receive a call that he had passed on. We are saddened by his death. Before he died we were actually talking about reviving Amaskumfete,” he was quoted as saying.

His mother Maphefo Tshabalala described him to the publication as a “humble” and “respectful” person.

His memorial service will reportedly take place on Friday at 2pm at his home and his burial will be on Saturday.

The late kwaito star is survived by his three children.
