Pearl Thusi blasts EFF for vandalism of H&M stores

The actress has accused the Economic Freedom Fighters of spreading violence and fear.

Actress Pearl Thusi has come out strongly against the vandalism at H&M stores by the Economic Freedom Fighters over the weekend.

EFF members caused chaos at several H&M stores across the country after an advert of a black child wearing a green hoodie with the saying, “coolest monkey in the jungle” went viral late last week.

Several stores were trashed and had to be temporarily shut down. The EFF has remained unapologetic over the protests, with spokesperson Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi saying that members would visit all racist institutions.

Weighing on the fiasco, Pearl said the EFF was misrepresenting the country as “savages”.

“So instead of fighting at their level you’re just going to vandalise stores and establishments? Spread violence and fear? Oh, ok. Just misrepresent us all as savages then,” she said.

Even though Pearl does not condone the EFF’s methods, she also did not agree with the Democratic Alliance’s statements about the vandalism.

“The DA needs to relax. They’re like an annoying ex. Omg,” she said.

Pearl’s comments caused a debate on her Twitter page, with some followers accusing her of looking for attention.
