Jub Jub has ‘forgiven’ himself for the 2010 accident

Jub Jub opens up about the journey of picking up the pieces of his life since being released.

It’s been almost one year since Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye was released from prison on parole, and rebuilding his life started with learning to forgive himself.

Jub Jub and his friend, Themba Tshabalala, were responsible for the death of four school children and leaving two others brain damaged after they drove into them in 2010. The duo were convicted of culpable homicide in 2012.

During an interview with Tshisa Live, Jub Jub, who has been trying to revive his music career and move forward, said he had to learn to forgive himself.

“The most important thing is forgiveness, it comes from God. So I forgave myself and God forgave me … It really doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks because that gave me the energy and the ability to move on,” he said.

The musician added that he is still in therapy to help him deal with everything because it wasn’t easy.

He said that it took a lot for him to forgive himself, but he had no other choice because it was the only way he could move forward.

“Yeah, I had to because if I didn’t then I wouldn’t be able to move on. It took a lot for me to get there though. It took a part of me dying, it took a part of me losing everything and really humbling myself,” he added.

Just days after being released from prison earlier this year, Jub Jub begged the country for forgiveness through a track called Tshwarelo (Please Forgive Me).

In an interview with SlikourOnLife, Jub Jub said that his latest single Awesome God also is a reflection of how God has guided him through the tough times.
