Fan letter brings assault-accused Mthokozisi Ndaba to tears

The Idols SA runner-up shared a letter of motivation he received from a fan in the wake of allegations that he assaulted a woman.

KwaZulu-Natal singer Mthokozisi Ndaba has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons since the singing competition wrapped up nearly two weeks ago.

Shortly after Paxton Fielies was crowned the season 13 winner, Mthokozisi was slammed for walking off the stage, and refusing to take part in the post-final interviews.

The show’s producers said he needed time to compose himself after his loss.

The drama over his “sore loser” behaviour was just dying down, when a young woman accused him of beating her up at a Johannesburg apartment several days ago.

Mthokozisi responded to the claims in a statement posted on Instagram.

“In light of the current allegations and a case opened against me, I have returned to Jo’burg again to co-orperate with the police… let us please let our SA law to handle the matter rightfully.

“I plead with TeamMthokozisi & everyone to not attack the complainant on social media. We do not know what issues she may be dealing with,” he wrote.

And it seems #TeamMthokozisi has his back. The 25-year-old shared a picture of a handwritten note he received from a fan.

“Earlier today at the shops a 7-year-old walked towards me and handed me a hand written note and walked away… I cried all the way as I was driving back home. Can’t stop reading it,” he captioned the image.

The letter reads: “When you get home tonight, you need to pray. Ask God to break the curse and the spirit of death over your family.”

The boy added that Mthokozisi needs to dedicate his music to God.

“Only then will you see success that will break the cycle of poverty in your family. God is looking for that commitment from you tonight,” he wrote.
