#Isthunzi actress nominated for International Emmy Award
She is the third South African to be nominated for the award after Brenda Ngxoli and Vatiswa Ndara.

South African actress Thuso Mbedu has been nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress” category for the 2017 International Emmy Awards.
She is nominated for her role as Winnie on Mzansi Magic’s local tv drama Is’thunzi.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Mbedu’s PR team said the actress received her performance training at Wits University between 2010 and 2013 and graduated with Honours Cum Laude, majoring in Physical Theatre and Performing Arts Management.
“She has also spent two months at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, in 2012. Thuso made her screen acting debut in the major recurring role of Boni Khumalo in the Mzansi Magic drama series Saints and Sinners, in August 2014. In late 2014 she had a small recurring role in the second season of the Mzansi Magic soapie IsiBaya, before landing her higher profile role as journalism student and wild child Kitso on Scandal!”
She then landed her first starring role in television on Is’thunzi last year.
Mbedu thanked those who played a role on her success including fellow performer S’dumo Mtshali.
She is the third South African to be nominated for the award after Brenda Ngxoli and Vatiswa Ndara in previous years.
Winners will be announced on November 20, 2017 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
