I didn’t try to take attention away from Kairo and Minnie – Bonang

The guests who attended Queen B's 30th birthday party were only available on the day Kairo had her second birthday and on Minnie's umembeso celebration.

Bonang has spoken out about apparently stealing the shine from Minnie Dlamini who had a traditional engagement celebration at her hometown in Durban and AKA’s daughter Kairo who turned two on Saturday.

She trended on Twitter for over ten hours, with many asking why her 30th had to coincide with such monumental events in the lives of her apparent celebrity rival and boyfriend’s daughter.

Bonang told Sowetan LIVE that the 8th of July was the only time when she could entertain her guests. She threw a lavish party at Summer Place in Hyde Park, Sandton for 200 of her friends and family. The bash is said to have cost R500,000.

“The weekend of my birthday I was in New York. The week after my boyfriend was performing at the Durban July. So‚ I had it last week because everyone was available. I had been planning it for four and a half months but had to move it because I wanted all my most important people there‚” she said.

“I have been in the industry for 13 years. It is water off a duck’s back. I am not worried about what people say. They will always talk about me because of who I am. As one of the biggest personalities in the country‚ if I throw a party‚ people care‚” she said.
