Nailbiting Idols show sees Vincent V and Ivan going home

Cape Town truck driver Vincent Verhoog and former Centurion hairdresser Ivan Roux were sent home in a shock Idols SA Season 10 result show last night.

For the first time in Idols SA history this year the voting results are announced as part of the nailbiting, exciting, two-hour live Spectacular every week.

Idols fans cast over 1.4 million votes this week, and with the tenth season on Idols SA still only at the Top 11 stage, it has already generated 40% of the total votes cast in all of Season 9!

Lize Mynhardt (21), who was Randall’s worst performer of the night last week, and Musa Mashiane (27), who was all three judges’s best performer of the night, were in the top 50 percentile of the public vote, along with 24-year-old Bongi Silinda and Vincent Bones (29).

That left Tumi Morobane (21), Demi Lee (24), Kyle Deutschmann (27), London Louw (24), Roxy McVean (19) in the firing line along with Vincent V and Ivan.

25-year-old Vincent Verhoog, who works as a driver for an industrial supplier, had impressed the judges with his determination when he finally cracked the Top 11 this year after auditioning five times, and falling at the last hurdle during Theatre Week in Sun City twice. “Thank you everyone for your support and love,” a disappointed Vincent told the audience after Idols host ProVerb made the announcement.

Ivan Roux (24) originally achieved success as a hairdresser before taking the plunge in February this year to set the combs down and start gigging as a full-time professional singer-songwriter. “I gave it my all, I enjoyed every single performance,” he told ProVerb. “I don’t think I would have done anything differently.”
