South Africans slam ‘awful’ Oscar Pistorius movie

South Africans finally saw the controversial new Oscar Pistorius movie, Blade Runner Killer, at the weekend – and it is worse than they imagined.

The made-for-TV biopic aired on Lifetime locally, exactly one week after it made its US debut.

The verdict from social media users is that the movie is “complete trash”.

Not only were the lead actors, Andreas Damm who played Oscar and Tonni Garnn who played Reeva, slammed for their “bad accents”, but the entire film’s casting got the thumbs down.

“So the directors of this Oscar Pistorius movie couldn’t find someone that closely resembled judge Masipa… Dreads at least,” one Twitter user posted.

But that’s not all South Africans are upset about. Many felt the movie was filled with inaccuracies.

“By the way, Pretoria East looks nothing like that #OscarMovie,” one woman wrote on Twitter.

Oscar is serving a six-year sentence for shooting Reeva dead on February 14, 2013.

The Paralympian says he believed she was a home intruder.

Both Oscar and Reeva’s family have slammed the Lifetime movie.

The biopic was billed as being told from Reeva and her mother June’s prospective, but the Steenkamp family denied they were ever consulted.

The Pistorius family went so far as to threaten legal action.

“The film was made with blatant disregard of both the Steenkamp and Pistorius families‚ as well as complete disregard for Reeva and Oscar. Neither Oscar‚ nor the defence or the family were involved in the production of this film in any way‚” the Pistorius family said in a statement last month,” the family said in a statement when the trailer was released last month.

We have no idea whether the Pistorius and Steenkamp families watched the new movie, but the South Africans who did are less than impressed.
