Vusi Nova accused of having ‘diva tendencies’

The musician has apparently demanded that family members call him Vusi Nova, not Vusumzi.

Crooner Vusi Nova has been accused by his family and friends of snobbish behaviour; they claim fame and fortune has changed him.

The Port Elizabeth-born Afropop singer’s cousin – who spoke to Sunday Sun on condition of anonymity – said Vusi had demanded that family members call him Vusi Nova, not Vusumzi.

“To us he is Vusumzi, not Vusi Nova,” another family member told the tabloid.

The source also alleged the musician’s true colours came through when the family had a traditional ceremony at their house in PE.

Vusi apparently refused to share a bedroom and chose to spend the night at a bed and breakfast in town. He is said to have rocked up the next day and refused to participate in any of the family activities.

It is also claimed Vusi demanded they make him a full English breakfast when he arrived.

“Men were slaughtering and women were cooking, he was not part of anything,” said a family member.

Another source said: “The entertainment world has swallowed him. We knew Vusi with nothing, this new Vusi Nova we don’t know.”

However, Vusi has denied the claims made against him to Sunday World.

“Sometimes people around you change and start treating you differently. I’m still the same Vusi,” he said.
